Souljazz. The Sidewinders, based in Amsterdam, just love it, and play the records of their souljazz heroes forever. Music from the beginning of the sixties, when modern jazz was influenced by gospel, latin and boogaloo and became funky.
Showing up on the famous Blue Note label were Horace Silver, Lee Morgan, Hank Mobley and others. The Sidewinders play their best compositions in the classical line up of trumpet, tenorsax and rhythm section.
The sensation caused by souljazz fifty years ago, The Sidewinders bring it all back live on stage now. Straight, snappy, full of swing. They played the International Jazzfestival 'Jazz Plaza' 2020 Havana (Cuba), the famous Amsterdam venue Melkweg (Jazzbop club night hosted by the legendary dj Graham B), the North Sea Jazz Club, cafe's and festivals in Holland, but also performed in Paris. The groove as tight as the drainpipe-trousers, and the solo’s as pointed as the shoes!

Souljazz. We love it! The Sidewinders uit Amsterdam en omstreken spelen niets liever. En draaien de platen van hun helden grijs. Muziek uit begin jaren zestig, toen moderne jazz funky werd onder invloed van gospel, latin en boogaloo.
Horace Silver, Lee Morgan, Hank Mobley en anderen maakten er naam mee op het beroemde Blue Note label. The Sidewinders spelen hun beste nummers én eigen composities, in de klassieke bezetting van trompet, tenorsaxofoon en ritmesectie.
De sensatie die souljazz vijftig jaar geleden teweegbracht, brengen The Sidewinders terug live op het podium. Straight, snappy en swingend. Ze speelden in 2020 op het Internationale jazzfestival 'Jazz Plaza' in Havanna (Cuba), de Melkweg (Jazzbop van dj Graham B), de North Sea Jazz Club, het Goois Jazzfestival, café’s en strandtenten in Holland, maar ook in Parijs. De groove zo strak als de broekspijpen. De solo's even puntig als de schoenen!

We spelen in de klassieke kwintetbezetting van trompet, tenorsax en ritmesectie. Voor grotere podia of festivals nemen we graag een extra percussionist mee.
